About BattlEye⚓︎

On September 17th 2024, Rockstar Games added BattlEye, a well-known anti-cheat solution, to Grand Theft Auto V. The inclusion of BattlEye is game-changing for the development of public mod menus. BattlEye can be safely disabled while playing Single Player, but it is required for online play.

The current version of 2Take1Menu is able to bypass BattlEye's online checks, allowing you to play GTA Online while having BattlEye disabled. However, this comes with a big compromise: GTA Online will not be quite "online".

How BattlEye affects 2Take1Menu⚓︎

Attempts have been made to cheat BattlEye and mod in GTA Online, with varying levels of success. However, due to the public availability of 2Take1Menu, Popstar Devs fear that these workarounds would be quickly patched by BattlEye developers, leading to waves of banned users. This is a risk that the 2Take1 team cannot afford. Therefore, modding with BattlEye enabled is currently unfeasible.

In early GTA V compilations after BattlEye's inclusion, 2Take1Menu allowed you to join lobbies with other modders that had BattlEye disabled. Coexisting with legit players was not possible, because their BattlEye client would detect that you had it disabled, and then you would be reported and kicked out of Online.

However, GTA V v3351 updated the anti-tamper features. If you disable BattlEye and try to join any other player, modder or not, your game will crash. There is likely no way around this.

The current state of 2Take1Menu⚓︎

It is no longer possible to use 2Take1Menu with other players, at all. This effectively renders most of the features in the Online tab useless, especially those aimed for other players.

You can still use 2Take1Menu if you are fine with playing solo. In fact, GTA Online has actually been trending towards being able to do more things by yourself, so most freemode activities can be done solo by hosting one of the following lobby types:

2Take1Menu will actively prevent anyone from joining your lobby, to avoid triggering the anti-tamper.

No matter which lobby type you choose: you will always be alone.

  • Solo
  • Invite Only
  • Friends Only
  • Crew Only
  • Public

Solo recovery

You can use recovery features in a solo lobby, and then restart GTA without 2Take1 and BattlEye enabled to enjoy those recoveries with other players.

As always, be sensible and do not get greedy. Especially now.
